Sara Ramirez

Sara Ramirez was born in Mexico and is an American-Mexican actor. She also sings. Her family was home-schooled by her mother, in the USA. Raised with racial remarks and made to feel unwanted. When she was in 9th grade she felt more confident when she was acknowledged by her teachers as a success when she sang at the school's audition. The experience not only increased her confidence, but it also changed the direction she pursued in her professional career. When she was 22, she received her degree from at the Julliard School of New York. She was 23 when she had her first Broadway show with Paul Simon's The Capeman, and her film debut You've Got Mail, were her biggest breakthroughs. Her biggest break came with her performance as The Lady of The Lake in the original Broadway production of Spamalot. She was awarded the Tony Award and received great appreciation for her performance. Later in the same year she appeared on the ABC show Grey's Anatomy as Dr. Callie Torres and gained wider appreciation for her performance. As a professional singer She has also recorded songs as well as an extended work. In her role as an activist, she works tirelessly in the cause of LGBT equality.
